What do appliance repair Google Ads cost in Canada?
There is no published Canadian benchmark for this trade, so most figures you will find online are American. US data from 99 Calls puts appliance repair at an average $10.28 cost per click and $49 cost per lead in 2026, down from $57 in 2024, with 24-28% of clicks becoming leads (99 Calls, June 2026). Canadian home-services clicks generally run $4-$12, rising to $8-$20 in Toronto (MarketingFlow, January 2026).
Rather than repeat American averages, here is what three Canadian appliance-repair accounts actually did in their first month, taken from the live Google Ads accounts.
| Account | Market | August 2026 spend | Tracked leads | Cost per lead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Trucare Appliance Repair | Greater Toronto Area | $942 | 10 | $94 |
| Fixcore Appliance Repair | Greater Toronto Area | $2,272 | 29 | $78 |
| SteadiFix Appliance Repair | Surrey and Metro Vancouver | $4,753 | 41 | $116 |
| Combined | — | $7,967 | 80 | $99.59 |
Two things worth reading from that table. First, launch cost per lead is always the highest it will be, because the account has no conversion history to bid from. Second, the smallest budget did not produce the worst cost per lead, and the largest did not produce the best. Service area, competition and how fast the phone gets answered matter more than budget size.
Should you run Local Services Ads or Google Ads first?
Appliance repair is an eligible Local Services Ads category in Canada, listed first in Google’s own Canadian category list (Google Local Services Ads help, Canada). Canada uses the Google Verified badge rather than the American Google Guaranteed branding, and consumer coverage runs up to $2,000 CAD.
| Local Services Ads | Search campaigns | |
|---|---|---|
| You pay for | Leads (calls and messages) | Clicks |
| Typical Canadian cost | $20-$60 per lead | $8-$20 per click in Toronto |
| Placement | Above everything, with a verification badge | Standard text ads below LSA |
| Setup time | 2-4 weeks (background check, insurance, licence) | Days |
| Control | Minimal: no keywords, limited targeting | Full keyword, negative and schedule control |
| Bad leads | Disputable through Google | Managed with negative keywords |
The practical answer for most Canadian shops is both, in sequence. Start Local Services Ads verification immediately because it takes weeks, and run Search in the meantime so the phone rings while you wait. Verification requires business registration, liability insurance, any provincial licence and an owner background check (Niagara Stands Out, February 2026).
What makes appliance repair ads different from other trades?
Three things, and all three are where budgets leak.
DIY and parts searches. A large share of appliance-related searches are people looking for a part number or a YouTube fix, not a technician. Without a negative keyword list covering parts, manual, error code, reset, how to fix and the brand-plus-part patterns, you pay for all of them.
Brand searches cut both ways. Searches for Sub-Zero, Viking, Miele and Wolf convert at higher job values, and US data shows luxury-brand leads cost about $75 against $49 for mainstream (99 Calls, June 2026). They are worth more, so they can cost more, but only if you are actually authorized to service those brands.
Fake competitors inflate the auction. A CBC Marketplace investigation found that up to half of the appliance repair companies appearing in some Canadian Google Maps searches were fake listings, with one Concord, Ontario operator running networks of neighbourhood-named businesses at addresses that turned out to be a Starbucks and a Shoppers Drug Mart (CBC Marketplace, 2020). For a legitimate GTA shop, Local Services Ads verification and a clean Google Business Profile are genuine competitive advantages, not box-ticking.
How we launch an appliance repair account
Conversion tracking goes in before a dollar is spent: call tracking, form tracking and message tracking, verified end to end. Campaigns are split by appliance type rather than lumped together, because a fridge emergency and a dryer that squeaks are different searches with different urgency and different bids. Service area is drawn to where technicians actually drive, not a lazy radius around the postal code. Then a large negative keyword list goes in on day one, and search terms get reviewed weekly.
None of that is exotic. It is simply the difference between an account that pays $78 per lead and one that pays $200.
Frequently asked questions
How many appliance repair leads can I get on a $3,000 per month Google Ads budget?
In the Greater Toronto Area, expect roughly 25 to 40 tracked leads in a launch month at that budget, based on our own accounts: $2,272 produced 29 leads at $78 each in August 2026. Established accounts do better as conversion data accumulates, so treat launch-month numbers as a floor rather than a forecast.
Are Google Ads still worth it for appliance repair?
Yes, if you answer the phone. Appliance repair is an emergency purchase, so search intent is high and the customer usually calls the first company that picks up. The businesses that struggle with paid search are almost always losing leads at the phone rather than at the click.
Is appliance repair eligible for Local Services Ads in Canada?
Yes. Appliance repair services is the first category listed on Google’s Canadian Local Services Ads page. Canada uses the Google Verified badge, with consumer coverage up to $2,000 CAD. Availability still varies by city and category, so check your specific service area before planning around it.
What negative keywords should an appliance repair campaign use?
At minimum: parts, manual, error code, reset, how to, DIY, free, salary, jobs, hiring, used, rental, and searches for appliance sales rather than repair. Brand-plus-part combinations matter too. Most wasted spend in this category is DIY traffic, and it is the first thing we cut in an audit.
How much does an appliance repair customer need to be worth to justify ads?
Take your average ticket and your close rate. If a job averages $250 and you book one in three leads, a lead is worth about $83, so a $78 cost per lead is roughly break-even on the first job and profitable across repeat business and referrals. If your average ticket is $150, either your close rate or your cost per lead has to improve before the maths works.
When is the cheapest time of year to advertise appliance repair?
US monthly data shows median cost per lead moving from about $42 in March to $51 in February, roughly a 30% swing across the year, with January the most expensive month in high-competition markets (99 Calls, June 2026). In Canada, expect summer heat waves to drive refrigerator and freezer calls, and winter to drive dryer and washer volume.
